Since 2018, the UAE has allowed foreigners to apply for long-term residency. This includes the UAE Investor Visa or golden visa, which is a residency by investment scheme. The approved applicants will be given a renewable 5-year or 10-year permit. Since 2021, Golden visa holders are eligible to apply for UAE citizenship.

UAE Golden Visa is the most popular option for investors interested in relocation to the UAE. Those who invest at least AED 10 million in a company or financial instrument are eligible for a 10-year license. Those who buy a property worth at least AED 5 million, will get a 5-year permit. The investment must be held for a minimum of three years, and you’ll need to keep your investment up to date for your permit to stay valid and be extended.

With no tax on personal income and most types of corporate income, the UAE is one of the most tax-friendly jurisdictions.

Investment requirements

Proof of investment, e.g. property deed or Bank Letter to prove:

  • Deposit of AED 5m (approx US$ 1,361,000) – For 5 year visa
  • Deposit of AED 10m (approx US$ 2,722,000) – For 10 year visa

No criminal record

Reports from the police in the countries where you have lived. The Police Certificate must be issued within the last six months.
